Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nesting 2012

Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nesting 2012

This Loggerhead had finished laying eggs and was covering the nest. We stood away about 50ft to shoot this video. We did not use visible lighting and as far as we can tell she did not know we were nearby. I shot video with a Flip Video Camera (Older Version) at maximum digital/optical (?) telephoto setting. I think it is 3x for video camera, and used a hand held Sight Mark Eclipse monocular night vision scope rated at 2x24 (first gen). I had to hold night vision in one hand and camera in the other hand. Matched optics using the Flip video screen during video. Technique worked great when I use 3x setting on video camera because this zoomed-in on the IR spot setting, hence video frame is larger, rather then having a black background and night vision center point of focus.
